Step Back in Time
Mr. Jeffersoniana — Have you visited the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center and Smith Education Center? The new center serves as the 21st-century gateway to Jefferson’s timeless Monticello. You can tour the four new innovative exhibits or watch the introductory film “Thomas Jefferson’s World”. Youngsters will love the interactive Hands-On Griffin Discovery Room especially designed for children ages 6 to 11.
Take a friendly tour of Monticello, Jefferson’s mountaintop home. Tour the home, stroll down Mulberry Row and enjoy the gardens and grounds. Call (434) 984-9822 for information on special events, workshops, and suggested family activities.
Be sure to include Ash Lawn-Highland and Michie Tavern, circa 1874 on your historic site tour. The Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society also offers tours of the Court Square area (Saturdays only).

Hands On
Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center — The center is proud to be the starting point for the dreaming, planning and training for what became the Lewis and Clark exploration of the West; special events and programs are on-going.
McCormick Observatory — Tour the astronomy museum featuring a replica of Mr. Jefferson’s telescope or star gaze at the McCormick Observatory (1st and 3rd Fridays of every month). Call (434) 974-7494 for details. Admission is free.
